What is Paracord?
Paracord, or parachute cord, is a soft, lightweight nylon rope originally designed for parachuting. The most popular type, 550 paracord, consists of a nylon sheath with 32 strands on the outside and seven 2-ply nylon yarns on the inside, known as the "guts." It has a minimum breaking strength of 550 lbs, making it incredibly versatile.
While it was initially used for parachuting, paracord quickly gained popularity for other uses due to its quick-drying, rot- and mildew-resistant properties. Military personnel use it for tasks like securing gear, hanging tents, and even as fishing line.
